about

Chad: The title comes from something I heard Zeke's grandfather say. He's an Irish Immigrant and that was one of those cultural sayings that just stuck in my head. The song is maybe a little negative but hopefully people see the Good in it. I had no plans to put a Rap in it but Zeke insisted and I guess it goes to show, you should have faith.

Saahir: I spent a while writing out the harmonies for my little parts here. I think I ended up singing something different but I felt I needed to contribute something competent, so hopefully they'd want me to sing on more songs.

Zeke: i had nothing to do with writing the rest of the song, which i think makes the clash with the rap stronger. emcee motherfucka's history with the band goes way back so of course i had to bring him in.

Dan: I didn't have a solo on this one so I just stuck a little riff up top and called it a mini-solo.

lyrics

we walked into the mist
and swallowed our pride
we hoped we could maintain

i held you as we kissed
on the other side
for now we could explain

why you'd scream
about what I did in your dream
i'm on your team
but now i feel so in between

why am i
in a black dog most of the time

it's all mine
but the black dog's stepping on your spine

ZEKE:
jump up if you got what you asked for
fucked up what you got and you got more
fucked up your landlords face
lost your place but didn't change your pace

MOFO:
blame your girl man she trippin
blame the world but your grip keeps slippin
what's missin you're drunk and pissin
dissin on your crew and you won't even listen

ZEKE:
go back and you get smacked
no hope so you buy a 6-pack
feelin like shit there's no ceilin on this pit
you only spit on the bits that you're dealin with to get

sicker from the liquor and you're strugglin sinkin quicker
will you spill another lie till you're fillin up your mind
with a sickness the quickness of limiting thickness wasting your
time in a bind and you whine fine cryin out

why am i
in a black dog most of the time

it's all mine
but the black dog's stepping on your spine

why am i
why am i
in a black dog most of the time
can't define
can't decide
if a black dog's within my rights

why am i
why am i
in a black dog most of the time
can't define
can't decide
if a black dog's within my rights

why am i (Dan: why am I)
in a black dog most of the time
